EIT Food: Food Solutions 2024

12 March 2024

On 12th March 2024, from 5 p.m. onwards, an information webinar will be held to launch the new edition of the EIT Food educational project: Food Solutions 2024, in which the Department of Management of the University of Turin is a partner for the fourth consecutive year.

The project is aimed at students of undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses and PhD students who want to seize the opportunity to undertake entrepreneurial training, proposing innovative, sustainable and circular solutions in the Food System.

It is a case competition between different European Universities working on sustainable solutions for the food industry, called to respond to different food challenges:

EcoBite Delights

This challenge focuses on sustainable and inclusive innovation for a food system aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.

The focus of the challenge will be to produce a sustainable and affordable (25% cheaper than in the current product market) bakery and/or patisserie solid food for a population with special dietary needs such as diabetes, lactose intolerance, or similar.

ZeroWaste Design

This challenge focuses on reducing food and packaging waste for sustainable supply chain systems.

The specific focus areas of this food solution challenge are:

  • reduction and/or replacement of food packaging (without creating more food waste)
  • circular food systems with reduced package and food waste.
  • better supply chains and reuse structures.

The programme lasts 8 months (April-November) and involves the creation of multidisciplinary teams of 5 to 8 members sharing common interests and a project idea to be transformed into a business idea with the support of experienced academic mentors and managers from international food industry companies throughout the programme.

Participants have the opportunity to access asynchronous learning sessions and attend 4 live workshops on innovation and entrepreneurship.

In the final pitch event in November 2024, each team will present their business idea in front of a jury of industry experts.

A prize of 3.000 euros is reserved for the winners of the final event. All participants are awarded 5 CFUs.
